It was in the negatives a couple nights ago. I’ve been meaning to do my monthly start and rev on all the stored bikes but nooope, those temps were just too awful.
OH btw, the guy I got my bike from last night has an Aprilia RS50. I wish I got pics because hooooly crap, his girlfriend’s Ninja 250 looked like a liter bike next to it. He has his tuned for a top speed of 75. On a thing that looks like it has bicycle tyres!!!

Nice bike!
![]() 01/23/2019 at 14:49 |

They are such neat little bikes! You rev like crazy and by the top of 4th you might be going the speed limit lol. Cars get pissed because it always sounds like you’re going triple digits.
This winter has been surprisingly tame so far in the NW, nothing has sat for more than a month without being ridden.

Just watch out for large rocks and Porsche Caymans. Oh and if you start doing "7 ____ riders you may meet" articles, I will go into Canada myself to beat some sense I to you with tire spoons.

I definitely think it’s a good goal to have owned as many bikes as you are years old - think you’ll be able to keep that up until you’re 70? =)

I still maintain that it is the BEST all around bike you can possibly have.
Now that i have the chance/opportunity to own multiple, I can specialize a little more. and I still have an SV for the track so what does THAT say?
![]() 01/23/2019 at 15:04 |

that was just the 2013+ R models. the previous gen non R are safe.

Welcome to the triple club. I finally started reassembling mine yesterday after going through the camshafts. Also has a couple new speed parts on it for the 2019 race season (with a few more on the way).

I love the Daytona 675 triple. I think it’s one of my favorite designs for a modern sport bike, and fits the niche of daily ridden bike perfectly.

I will have to stay in touch with you. I am going to try and make this bike under 375lbs ready to ride with a full tank of gas. (dry for 2011 was like 355, wet was 408) So every little weight saving measure will be employeed at some point.

this and the GSXR 750. The 750 just hits the goldilock zone for JUSt the right amount of power without being scarey or stupid.
![]() 01/23/2019 at 17:43 |
|
As a track bike? 375 wet will be hard to hit without spending a LOT of money.

Know that I’m home, I’ll elaborate on my earlier post.
If you want it to weigh 375lbs and be street legal, that ain’t going to happen.
For track or race its possible but still will cost a lot of money to do at a high level:
1. Replace the battery with a Lithium Ion. Best bang for your buck weight reduction.
2. Basic race prep: Remove the kickstand, passenger pegs, mirrors, SAI, EXUP, Intake Flapper/valve, and canisters - this is essentially free but will only net you a couple pounds at best
3. Headlight and tail light removal - Also free, will net several pounds.
The above mentioned might net you 15lbs. From there its going to start getting expensive. Link me your facebook and I can give you more details and guidance if you want to go into it.

Wow that’s a lot of flips. I flipped and ‘01 R6 and it was a pretty fun experience. I’m hoping to do more flips so I can ride more bikes.

Oh I know it will be money. But it eill be a street bike. CF wheels, panels, ti bolts....whole 9 yards
![]() 01/24/2019 at 00:50 |
|
Dont want to burst your bubble but in street legal form even dumping $7k usd into it wont get you there. Carbons wheels are $4k alone, a new subframe is $500, new forks and a shock will be another $2k, superbike brake rotors are $700. Titanium on any that isnt unsprung is pissing money away for small gains.
Weight loss on a bike, particularly street bikes is a game of diminishing returns.
To put that $7k in perspective, I’d sell you my whole 675R setup and pile of spares for $7k.

I mean, its only 25lbs....i know the pipe saves a BIG chunk of that. Didnt say it would be easy...but it SHOULD be doable....

Damn thats good looking. Nice find!
